An author’s purpose is like a secret mission they have when they write a book or story. It’s the reason why they decide to write it in the first place. Sometimes, authors want to tell a fun and exciting adventure to entertain us and make us laugh. Other times, they might want to teach us something new, like facts about animals or how to be a good friend. And there are moments when authors write to share their own thoughts and feelings, just like writing a letter to a friend. So, an author’s purpose is like a special goal they have to make us happy, teach us, or share their thoughts with us through their words on the pages of a book.
This ready-to-use packet includes definitions, link to video, examples and templates to use while studying author’s purpose. It also includes a craft activity children can make using books they have already read that they have organized by Author’s Purpose.
