With their History of Valentine’s Day Reading Passage in hand, students will move around the classroom answering questions, playing detective and finding clues to the case. This Text-Marking Detective Mystery has students using their reading passage multiple times searching for evidence to each of the 18 questions. Great addition to your February parties.
Topics include: Saint Valentine, Lupercalia in Ancient Rome, history and traditions
Students will work individually (or in pairs) and race to see who can solve the case first! A friendly competition always increases engagement. As students answer each question, they will need to underline or highlight where they found the answer in the reading passage.
This activity can be used for individual work, partner activities, anticipatory sets, unit review, sub plans, extension activities, early-finishers, or just for fun the day before break.
