They can discover what is often added to Mexican Nativity scenes, what a luminaria is, what game families play on Christmas in Ethiopia, what the most important part of Christmas decorations in Italy is, who the zampognari and pifferai are and what they do, how the Philippine tradition of parols began, and what “Little Christmas” is in Ireland, as well as what Las Posadas, Noche de Rábanos, Día de los Reyes, Candlemas, Timkat, and Simbang Gabi are all about, plus so much more.
This unit focuses on faith, family, and food traditions and customs. There is no mention of Santa Claus or gift-giving traditions. A short introduction highlights what the Christmas celebrations in the book have in common, and the end of the book focuses on thanking community helpers who don’t always get to take Christmas off to be with their families.
Coloring pages are broken down as follows: Introduction (6 pages), Christmas in Mexico (33 pages), Christmas in Ethiopia (12 pages), Christmas in Italy (28 pages), Christmas in the Philippines (22 pages), Christmas in Ireland (21 pages), and Community Thank You (15 pages). *If you purchase multiple Story of Christmas Around the World volumes, please note that the Introduction and Community Thank You pages repeat in each volume, but each volume includes 100+ coloring pages about Christmas in five different countries with no repeated images or countries between volumes.
