Reading Comprehension Packet

Why is Reading Comprehension important for students? This is a book companion to go along with the book “Stellaluna.” It will help them build community and foster reading and writing skills. 

This reading packet uses the book Stellaluna to introduce or assess students’ reading skills and vocabulary while teaching them about differences and acceptance.

Reading comprehension allows students to gain insight into a mentor text’s characters, setting, plot, problem, solution, and themes. It will also help them form opinions and interpretations of what they have read.

Students can also expand their vocabulary, learn new ideas and perspectives, and develop their problem-solving skills through reading comprehension.

In addition, reading comprehension can help foster a love of reading and writing, leading to a lifetime of learning.

You will download a reading comprehension packet to supplement the Stellaluna book unit study.

Students will complete a hands-on- project, answer questions, practice vocabulary words and story elements activities, and use anchor charts in their notebooks. Answer keys are provided.
