Owl Moon is a children’s book written by Jane Yolen and illustrated by John Schoenherr. The book tells the story of a young girl and her father who go owling on a winter’s night. This unit can be used to teach elementary students about the natural world and to develop their reading comprehension, writing, and observational skills.
In Owl Moon, a young girl joins her father on a silent walk in the winter chill to spot an owl. They don’t always find an owl on their walks, but they always have hope.
Owl Moon is a book that can be used for many different grade levels. You can explore literary devices, math activities as well as art and music.
