The Draw and Explore Literature series is a great way to combine art and popular stories. A short summary of ten different Aesop fables is given. Each is followed by an image on a grid. Next, students can do one or all of the assignments that follow. They can draw half of the image in a grid that shows the left half of the picture, half of the image in a grid that shows the right half of the picture, or the entire image on an empty grid. This makes the unit completely flexible for both left-handed and right-handed students. Ten review questions and an answer key are also included. Summaries of the following fables are included: “Belling the Cat”; “The Crow and the Pitcher”; “The Dog and His Reflection”; “The Fox and the Grapes”; “The Fox and the Stork”; “The Lion and the Mouse”; “The Tortoise and the Hare”; “The Milkmaid and Her Pail”; “The Shepherd Boy and the Wolf”; and “The Miller, His Son, and Their Donkey.” 31 pages total.
