Christmas Preposition Practice

Preposition definitions—what does it mean to teach from those? It is important in teaching prepositions that you don’t just teach word lists, songs, or rhymes (though I do have tons of those in my products!)—but that you teach them based on preposition definitions. This means that students understand the function of prepositions, not just a word list. And this is what the Christmas Preposition Pack is all about—teaching through preposition definitions.

There are over 200 total prepositions if you consider prepositions that are used as other words (before can be prep, a subordinator, and an adverb) and prepositions that are multi-word (on top of). Thus, learning a list of 30 of these will not be enough to help students recognize them, figure out the whole prepositional phrase, mentally remove the prepositional phrase to match subjects with verbs, write with prepositional phrases as openers, and more.

Enter one of my preposition packets—the Christmas Preposition Packet. It is a teaching tool as well as a workbook! It teaches, and has students practice, prepositions with Christmas-based manipulatives (a starry sky scene with choice of character—angels, elves, Santa, reindeer) and in specific categories for greater retention of prepositions. (I like my middle schoolers to learn eighty prepositions or so and my high schoolers need to know well over one hundred. These methods work to make that happen.)

This product gives you as little or as much preposition teaching and practice as you desire (up to a full semester if you use one lesson per week) and is extremely multi-level.
