With the Characters of Shakespeare Notebooking Journal, students have the opportunity to investigate 65 characters from five of Shakespeare’s most popular plays. If students are familiar with the plays, this is a great review unit. If they have not yet read the plays, the unit can be used alongside their study. The five plays included are A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, and Romeo and Juliet. Instructions are provided if you want to use only one or more of the plays without using the entire unit. For each character, students will record what play the character appears in, what the character’s role was in the play (protagonist, antagonist, supporting character, etc.), the character’s physical description, the character’s personality, and a summary of the character’s part in the play. 68 pages total. Ages 8-13.
