Back to School Smash Mats | Number Recognition and Counting Activities

Have fun while working on counting numbers 1-10 in these play dough Spin & Smash activities! Students get to practice number recognition while strengthening their fine motor. Plus, “I Can” and “Je peux” cards give your students more independence during centers. Your students will love these activities so much that they won’t even realize that they’re learning!

HOW TO PLAY:

To prep, have students roll a bunch of dough balls to use for smashing, and place on each image on the mat. Players must spin the spinner and locate the matching picture on the mat. If correct, they get to squish (smash) the play dough ball. If a space is already occupied, the player misses a turn and spins again next time. The player to smash the most spaces is the winner!
