Your train loving students will be fully engaged with learning to recognize the capital and lowercase letters of the alphabet as well as their beginning sounds with these alphabet train cards. Students will build trains to demonstrate their letter knowledge!

What is included for Each Letter:

  • 3 train engines with the letter
  • 4 train cars with objects that begin with each letter
  • 4 train cars with the letters on them (2 for capital letters and 2 for lowercase letters)

Students will use the train engines to sort the train cars to create trains based on beginning sounds or letter identification.

These letter cards provide students with practice identifying beginning sounds and distinguishing between capital and lowercase letters. The students can sort through all 26 letters at once or a small set of letters can be provided to target individual sounds and letters for review or practice.

These alphabet trains are a low prep literacy center activity. The teacher just needs to print the pages, cut them out, then give them to students to sort. The cards can be laminated for durability to make a reusable center activity. Place sets of cards in tasks boxes for easy set up and clean up!
