Mama and Me Bible Reading Plan
Psalm 119:11 – “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
Week 1: Mama and me bible reading plan
When I first heard this verse as a child, I had a picture of God literally writing His word in my heart as if it were the tablets of Moses. I’ve kept that pictures with me all my life, and think it is so fitting for what God wants to do. This last year has been a rollercoaster to say the least. I have such an urgency to dive deeper into His word, and to take my children with me.
As my kids have grown older, I’ve realized that I need to be more intentional with instilling a passion and love for God’s word in them. I thought it would be awesome to create a Bible Reading plan that you can do with your kids, as well as giving you an opportunity to go deeper on your own time. Each day has questions you can ask your children, and depending on how old they are, you can branch out and go deeper from there. Throughout this month, we’ll be taking in the broad scope of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. We’ll touch on the major stories and themes throughout the Bible. Buckle up and let’s have some fun exploring God’s Word!
Creation to Jacob: This week we are focusing on the events from the book of Genesis. These early stories from the beginnings of time show us how God longs to have relationship with us. He sets apart a nation of people as His own, promising Abraham that his descendants will be blessed and be a blessing.
Day 1: Creation – Genesis 1 & 2
Why did God choose to create people with the choice to love Him or not?
Why do you think God created everything by speaking, but made humans by forming them with his hands?
Day 2: Adam and Eve’s fall – Genesis 3 & 4
Why do you think Adam and Eve disobeyed God, especially when they had a perfect life in the garden?
Why was Cain sacrifice not acceptable to God?
Day 3: Noah – Genesis 6 – 9
Why did God send a flood?
How long were Noah and his family in the ark?
Day 4: Tower of Babel – Genesis 11
Why was it a bad thing that the people were building a tower?
Day 5: Abram/Abraham – Genesis 12 & 21
It had to take a lot of courage for Abram to leave his country and his family. Do you think you could do the same if God asked you?
How old was Abraham when Isaac was born?
Day 6: Isaac – Genesis 24 & 25:19-34
Why didn’t Abraham want Isaac to marry someone from Canaan?
Why did Esau sell his birthright for soup? How crazy is that?!
Day 7: Jacob – Genesis 27 – 29
Why did Jacob lie to his father and pretend to be his older brother, Esau?
What did Jacob name the place where he had the dream about the angels going up and down on a ladder?
